We had our first event collaboration with Women in Tech to host the Alumni Event. We ran our first ever GitHub workshop hosted by our very own Vice-President, Jane! Attendees got to learn some of the basic functions of Git and GitHub through fun activities, peer support, and guidance from Jane. This event was a huge success with many students saying they found it helpful, useful, and easy to understand.
With the first half of the semester coming to a close, a movie night was in great demand by many ASW members. We got together to watch 'Hidden Figures', a film about three African-American women working at NASA and dealing with prejudice due to their race and gender. It was the perfect way to reflect not only on the struggles of women who have come before us, but also on the progress within the STEM field.
Our sip & paint event held at the EY office gave attendees the opportunity to network with EY staff in a more relaxing and casual environment. Many attendees were also able to make some new friends and create their very own masterpiece. We are grateful to EY for arranging this amazing evening with us.
Ending off semester 2 with a pub quiz hosted alongside CSEA! This was a great chance for students to take a break from their studies, celebrate the upcoming end of semester 2, make some new friends, and win some cool prizes.
